| Campaign Description: | State Senator Joel Laurie introduced Senate Bill 241 in 2007, but the bill failed to pass in the legislative session of that year. The legislation has been carried over into 2008 and has recently passed the Finance Subcommittee on Retirement. It has now moved on to the full Finance Committee.
The South Carolina Retirement System does not currently hold international equity
investments, thus the proposed legislation is a prohibition against Sudan-related
investments, should the state diversify in the future. |
