| Campaign Description: | State Representative Babette Josephs, chair of the House State Government Committee, introduced House Bill 1140 (HB 1140), based on the Sudan Divestment Task Force model of targeted Sudan divestment.
In July 2007, HB 1140 passed the Pennsylvania House of Representatives; It is currently awaiting a vote in the Senate Finance Committee.
Strong grassroots support for this bill is essential to its passage in the Finance Committee. We encourage you to call your Senator and ask them to support HB 1140.
HB 1140 would mandate the State Employees' Retirement System and the Public School Employees' Retirement System to divest their holdings in a select group of companies with operation in Sudan financially supportive of the government's genocidal effort in Darfur.
