The Outsourcing Phenomena: Is Africa Next?

It is estimated that there are over 5 million people being employed through outsourcing all over the world.  But with the maturity of the centers in India, Malaysia, China and the Philippines the cost of operation has proven to have climbed.  This have lead outsourcing magnates to look for more suitable sites that house fluent speakers of the English language, and what they saw in Africa was promising, which leads one to ask, is Africa next as the pinnacle of the outsourcing phenomenon?

With the xoom of outsourcing in Africa’s neighboring continent, Africa would want to have a piece of the action and of course the economic stability that it connotes.  The beauty about all of this is that Africa is just at the right moment of realization for outsourcing in it’s shores as a lot of the Industry’s magnates are opting to move to more suitable and cost efficient sites.

This choice of movement towards Africa in not unfounded but rather strategic.  Most of the Africans from the north have been once heavily exposed to the English language through the rule of the British. A language in which they have retained to use as their first language even when the colonizers left.  And it is now to their benefit as they are most suited to be contact center representatives mainly for the people in the United Kingdom, and for the Americans as well.

South Africans who were mostly under the French rule also benefits from the language that their colonizers left, which is of course, French.  They are most suited to be front liners in the contact service industry catering French clients.

All of this excitement aside, there are still a lot of room for improvement.  Keeping in mind Africa’s technological advancements as not yet at par with a lot of its competitions.  But the government’s pledge for support will be able help the knot of outsourcing industry tremendously. 

With all of the points mention, there is a certainty that Africa will rise on top of the successful outsourcing sites in the world.  Not only is Africa next in the outsourcing phenomenon, it is already making a big noise in the industry. You would also be shocked to discover other things you never knew existed in Africa including the Discovery Channel Store which is already making a huge splash in the outsourcing industry there.
